Hearing Her Cry

Every woman whether young or old head will turn and ear perk up at the sound of a babies cry. We cant help it. It is a maternal instinct. deeply wired in us.

Just the other day I was at the Dr.'s office after hurting my back and

I saw a mother slapping and dragging a toddler on to the elevator while pushing a stroller. My heart bled for the small child, and then my mind spun with anger and frustration toward the mother as everyone in the lobby watched her man handle the child. I wanted to give her a good talking to as the elevator door closed, but instead their I stood paralyzed with back spasms unable to rush over. Sure, after it was over we all discussed how horribly she handled the child, wishing we would have done more to assist both the child and the mother in some way, but now they were gone.

Now, now! Lets not judge! I think if we were honest we could all think of a time when we could have come to the aide or responded to the cry of someone in need, and did nothing.

Yet, if we listen we can still hear the cries of women and children in the wind. There are still mothers struggling with the rigors of parenting, balancing life, work, family, society and faith. They need a mentor! Yes, someone like you and I to walk beside them without judgement and condemnation. Someone willing to allow God to use them, to strengthen the life of one of his children.

Will we respond this time. Will we be willing to walk beside her, making ourselves available to show her the love of Christ as we encourage, teach, guide, and help her be the woman God desires her to be. Answering her cry can prevent the cries of her children and turn her cry into a song of praise.

Let's not look, stare, gossip or condemn her. With the love of Christ constraining us, let's commit to walk beside her and mentor her today!
